This Privacy Policy explains how Rejoice Mortgage(“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information, including credit-related information. We are committed to handling your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the credit reporting provisions of that Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.
Who we are
Rejoice Mortgage provides credit assistance as a mortgage and finance broker. We operate under Australian Finance Group (AFG) (Australian Credit Licence / Credit Representative No.: CRN 562757; ABN: 58 680 463 665).
The information we collect
To help you with finance, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details (name, address, phone, email, date of birth);
- Financial information (income, expenses, assets, liabilities, employment);
- Credit information and credit eligibility information (such as information from credit reporting bodies);
- Details about the loan or finance you are seeking and the relevant property or asset;
- Any other information relevant to assessing and arranging your finance.
How we collect it
We collect information directly from you (for example, when you complete an enquiry form, speak with us, or provide documents), and sometimes from third parties such as lenders, credit reporting bodies, your accountant or referrers, where you have authorised this or it is otherwise permitted by law.
Why we collect and use it
We use your information to:
- Assess your needs and objectives and provide credit assistance;
- Compare and arrange loans or finance with lenders on our panel;
- Prepare and lodge applications and manage your application to settlement;
- Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (including responsible lending and anti-money-laundering requirements);
- Communicate with you and, where you have consented, send you relevant information.
Credit information & credit reporting bodies
With your consent, we and the lenders we work with may obtain your credit information from, and disclose information to, credit reporting bodies. Credit reporting bodies may include this information in reports provided to other credit providers to assess your creditworthiness. You have rights in relation to this information, including the right to request access and correction, and the right to ask a credit reporting body not to use your information for direct marketing or pre-screening.
Who we disclose it to
We may disclose your information to:
- Lenders and credit providers on our panel;
- Our licensee/aggregator, Australian Finance Group (AFG), and its systems;
- Credit reporting bodies, valuers, insurers and mortgage managers;
- Our service providers (such as IT and customer-relationship systems);
- Anyone you have authorised, or where required or permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information. We take reasonable steps to ensure any disclosure is consistent with this policy and the law.
How we hold and protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We do not store sensitive financial details in your web browser. Where we no longer need your information and are not required to keep it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Access, correction & complaints
You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, or the relevant external dispute resolution scheme noted in our Credit Guide.
